Introduction
Is
it possible to make dietary modifications and expect to see an improvement in
physical performance?
The Task
Your job
is to assist the head coach in his attempt at putting a quality football team
on the field. You will be exploring different web sites in an attempt to
find the most efficient way to get these players in the shape that they need to
be in. Don’t forget, the head coach, administration and entire student body are
counting on you. Can you make a difference?

It is
time for you to put your money where your mouth is! These athletes have had no
nutritional guidance and are eating hamburgers and hot dogs at their training
table meals. Your job is to design a comprehensive nutritional guide that you
can give to the head coach outlining the proper diet it is going to take to see
some improvement in his players. Make sure to include what types of foods you
are going to suggest and the total amount of calories you will suggest they
take in each day. In addition to this, break down into percentages the amount
of Carbohydrates, Fats and Protein each player should be ingesting. The head
coach has also come to you with a list of players who need to gain weight and a
list of players who need to lose weight. Explore the sites and come up with
healthy ways to suggest gaining and losing weight. How much of a caloric
surplus/deficit will it take for each of these players to gain or lose 15 lbs?
Taking all of this into account you can remember your days as a college student
and how much you loved the local fast food restaurants. The players no doubt
visit some of these same establishments for between meal snacks. Go to the fast
food sites provided to you and come up with a list of “Healthier” choices that
they can make at 4 fast food restaurants. Compare these foods to some of the
standard foods on the menu and give a summary of the difference in caloric
value.
