Nutritional Webquest Plan
for Kindergarten

Intention of this webquest
The main goal of this webquest is for students to be able cooperatively work together to comprehend and identify the food pyramid and the six food groups within the food pyramid. The students have to create and explain a food pyramid to the class. They also have to present and a well- balanced meal to share with the class. In their presentation, the students will have to describe what foods they have chosen from the six food groups and why.

Length of the webquest
This webquest is a short term webquest. Students will be working in cooperative groups of three. The groups will have 3 sessions for 20 minutes a day to complete the task.
Task
Students will be:
1. Working cooperatively together in a group of three.
2. Each student will choose a job title for the description below:
a. Cook- Prepares the meal for the consumer and makes sure that all meals contain items from the six food groups.
b. Nutritionist- Researches the Internet Sites with help from the other team members.
c. Consumer- Responsible for buying/ordering all items needed to create meals.
3. All three of the students will work together to create a food pyramid on the six food groups and a well balanced, healthy meal from the fake food provided.
The task is for students to be able cooperatively work together to comprehend and identify the food pyramid and the six food groups after selecting their job title. The students will research the Internet to find facts about the food pyramid and the six food groups. After they have found out this knowledge, they will create a food pyramid and a well- balanced meal to share with the class. In their presentation, the students will have to describe what foods they have chosen from the six food groups and why.
Product
The final products that the students will produce is a food pyramid and a healthy, well- balanced meal Once they create the food pyramid they have to explain their food pyramid along with the six foods to the class. They also have to present and a well- balanced meal to share with the class. In their presentation, the students will have to describe what foods they have chosen from the six food groups and why.
Integrated Activities
Students will be are working on their developmental skills, such as cutting and gluing of the food pyramid. They are also working on the social skills and communication skills by cooperatively working with their team and presenting their final product to the class.

Students will be demonstrating Bloom Taxonomy by:
Knowledge: Students will identify the six major food groups from the food pyramid.
Comprehension: Students will describe why a certain food belongs in a certain food group.
Application: Students will demonstrate their final product to the class.
