This Organization recognizes the need and promotes the crucial goal of mobilizing students to oppose the anti-life mentality that is gripping campuses throughout the United States. <o:p></o:p></span></p> <h5><span style='font-size:12.0pt;mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>Section 2.<o:p></o:p></span></h5> <p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>The primary purpose of this Organization is education: to present detailed and factual information upon which students, faculty and the general public may be informed about the various topics of fetal development, abortion, alternatives to abortion, infanticide, crisis pregnancies, and related life issues. This will be accomplished by but not limited to:<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p>(A) Developing and maintaining educational programs regarding the right to life of every human being from the moment of conception until natural death as well as the fundamental value and dignity of human life at all stages of its development.</p> <p>(B) Developing and maintaining educational programs on campus relating to fetal development, abortion, abortion alternatives, infanticide and crisis pregnancies. </p> <p>(C) Providing educational materials such as films, books, slides, and pamphlets to NKU students, faculty and surrounding communities. </p> <p>(D) Submitting relevant news articles to local publications to provide information on events related to these issues. </p> <p>(E) Providing information concerning support systems and services available to the NKU community, particularly, women who are or may be faced with crisis pregnancies. </p> <p>(F)Soliciting, receiving, and raising funds or monies needed for the accomplishment of the above stated purposes and goals of this organization. </p> <p>(G) Holding regular campus meetings for the presentation of panel discussions, lectures, film presentations, or other educational materials. To distribute educational literature (books, articles, pamphlets, issues papers, etc.) throughout the academic community in order to achieve the widest possible audience. To aid in obtaining quality speakers, business, journalistic and/or academic leaders and to maintain an ongoing contract with these groups. To maintain an ongoing contract with all members and supporters in order to promote informative, educational programs and activities, research, and ideas for civic programs and projects. </p> <h5><span style='font-size:12.0pt;mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>Section 3.<o:p></o:p></span></h5> <p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>This organization shall be non-profit and non-sectarian. No part of the contributions or assets shall inure to the benefit of any member, individual and/or select number of individuals. Membership <o:p></o:p></span></h4> <h5><span style='font-size:12.0pt;mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>Section 1.<o:p></o:p></span></h5> <p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>Membership shall be open to all students at Northern Kentucky University. No person shall be denied membership on the basis of race, color, age, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, sex, marital status, or disability. <o:p></o:p></span></p> <h5><span style='font-size:12.0pt;mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>Section 2.<o:p></o:p></span></h5> <p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>Voting Membership shall be available to all members in good standing. Cooperating with the Executive Board to create long-term, and short-term goals.</p> <p>f. Enforcing the laws of the constitution.</p> <p>g. Ensuring that the organization s officers meet officer and meeting standards. </p> <p>h. Appointing committees not specifically provided for within the constitution.</p> <p>i. Being available to assist all officers, chairs, and committee members. </p> <p>j. Searching for leaders, ensuring all organizational officer positions are filled for the succeeding term, and ensuring timely elections are conducted.</p> <p>k. Preparing successor for his/her office.</p> <p>l. Instructing and aiding officers in the performance of their duties. </p> <p>m. Arranging pro-life training, and leadership programs to be conducted/attended inside, or outside of the organization. </p> <p>n. Serving as the representative of the organization to others, or appointing an accredited officer, or member to represent in his/her place.</p> <p>o. Attending any external meetings with which the organization could be associated, and in addition establishes relationships with community groups, e.g. pregnancy care centers, other pro-life friendly groups, and other pro-life organizations.</p> <p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></span></p> <p>(B) Vice President: The Vice President must attend all meetings absent extraordinary circumstances. Performing any reasonable task requested by the President to further the goals of organization.</p> <p>e. Cooperating with the Executive Board to create long-term and short-term goals.</p> <p>f. Being available to assist all officers, chairs, and committee members. </p> <p>i. Maintains weekly contact with committee chairs.</p> <p>j. Searching for leaders, ensuring all organizational officer positions are filled for the succeeding term, and ensuring timely elections are conducted.</p> <p>k. Records and reads the minutes at all meetings.</p> <p>b. Emailing a summary of the minutes to the organization s listserv.</p> <p>c. Signs in all members at the beginnings of meetings.</p> <p>d. Keeping accurate documentation of attendance at all meetings, and functions.</p> <p>e. Maintaining the membership list of active members.</p> <p>f. Working in cooperation with the Vice President of Recruitment/Social Events in putting together a semi-annual membership report of membership involvement.</p> <p>g. Contacting and encouraging absent members to attend.</p> <p>h. Keeping a record of all organizational activities.</p> <p>i. Keeping tract of the organization s schedule.</p> <p>j. Sending out email reminders.</p> <p>k. Collecting ballots and tallying votes for elections, and decisions.</p> <p>l. Preparing successor for his/her office.</p> <p>m. Refraining from releasing the membership lists for political, or commercial purposes. Duties include, but are not limited to:</p> <p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></span></p> <p>a. Training the organization in helping pre- and post-abortive women.</p> <p>b. Hosting forums to increase available resources.</p> <p>c. Coordinating, and tracking which members are sidewalk counseling, and volunteering at pregnancy resource centers.</p> <p>d. Evaluating the success of programs, tracking measurements such as the numbers of saves during sidewalk counseling.</p> <p>e. Making available other volunteering events to aid families.</p> <p>f. Aiding women in crisis pregnancies by counseling, and by helping them to find the necessary resources to carry their pregnancies to term.</p> <p>g. Meeting with faculty, and administration to list resources that are available to women.</p> <p>h. Establishing a phone number, and office for pregnancy resources.</p> <p>i. Passing pro-life legislation through student government.</p> <p>j. Publishing a pregnancy resource pamphlet.</p> <p>k. Preparing successor for his/her office.</p> <p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></span></p> <p>(H) Webmaster: The Webmaster must attend all meetings absent extraordinary circumstances. Duties include, but are not limited to: </p> <p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></span></p> <p>a. Providing current information for the organization website.</p> <p>b. Assisting the other officers with various technical needs of the organization.</p> <p>c. Preparing successor for his/her office.</p> <p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></span></p> <h5><span style='font-size:12.0pt;mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>Section 5.<o:p></o:p></span></h5> <p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>Officers must be voting members in good standing &nbsp;at the time of their election and remain voting members in good standing throughout their term of office.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <h5><span style='font-size:12.0pt;mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>Section 6.<o:p></o:p></span></h5> <p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>An officer may be removed from office by the voting members in good standing. Any member or officer may submit a written grievance to the President against an officer who is not upholding his or her officer duties.&nbsp; The voting members, not including the officer in question, will review the grievance and vote on whether to remove the officer from office.&nbsp; A 2/3 vote by the voting members can remove an officer from office.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <h5><span style='font-size:12.0pt;mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>Section 7.<o:p></o:p></span></h5> <p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>Each term of office begins on the last day of the spring semester, or the day of appointment to office.&nbsp; Each term of office ends on the last day of the spring semester, regardless of when an officer s term began.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></span></p> <h4><span style='mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>ARTICLE V. Elections&nbsp;<o:p></o:p></span></h4> <h5><span style='font-size:12.0pt;mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>Section 1.<o:p></o:p></span></h5> <p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>Election of officers shall occur annually at the last meeting of the spring semester.&nbsp; Candidates for office must be NKU students who have been voting members in good standing of the organization for at least one semester, as certified by the Secretary. Only voting members in good standing may vote in the election of officers. On the date of the election, the candidates for each office must make a brief speech to the members present.&nbsp; The election shall be by secret ballot, and the candidate receiving the most votes wins office. If a vacancy occurs in any office between elections, the Voting Members may fill the vacancy by a simple majority vote to elect a qualified replacement.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></span></p> <h4><span style='mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>ARTICLE VI. Meetings&nbsp;<o:p></o:p></span></h4> <h5><span style='font-size:12.0pt;mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>Section 1.<o:p></o:p></span></h5> <p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>Regular meetings of this organization shall be held at least monthly, but may be held more frequently if deemed necessary or desirable at the discretion of the Executive Board.&nbsp;&nbsp;<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></span></p> <h4><span style='mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>ARTICLE V. Finances<o:p></o:p></span></h4> <h5><span style='font-size:12.0pt;mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>Section 1.<o:p></o:p></span></h5> <p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>As an official student organization of Northern Kentucky University, Northern Right to Life will follow all financial guidelines and policies, including placing all funds in its University account. The advisor to this organization and a member of the Executive Board must approve and co-sign each expenditure before payment. <o:p></o:p></span></p> <h5><span style='font-size:12.0pt;mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>Section 2.<o:p></o:p></span></h5> <p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>The organization may establish reasonable dues to be paid by all members. The amount of the dues will be determined at the beginning of the academic year by the Executive Committee and presented to the general membership for approval by a 3/4 vote. &nbsp;Annual dues shall not exceed $25. <o:p></o:p></span></p> <h5><span style='font-size:12.0pt;mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>Section 3.<o:p></o:p></span></h5> <p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>The fiscal year shall be July 1 to June 30.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <h5><span style='font-size:12.0pt;mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>Section 4.<o:p></o:p></span></h5> <p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>Upon dissolution of this organization, the Executive Board, after payment of all the liabilities of the organization, shall dispose of all remaining assets exclusively to charitable and educational purposes as the Executive Board shall determine, but in any case in a manner consistent with the organizations goals and purposes.<o:p></o:p></span></p> <h5><span style='font-size:12.0pt;mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>Section 5.<o:p></o:p></span></h5> <p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"'>Northern Right to Life may seek funds from the Legacy Fund Program, Programs and Activities Grant, or Collaborative Project Fund as prescribed in the Student Organization Handbook.
