Cryptanalysis Tools is a program I designed for my Honors 304: Cryptology class at NKU in Spring of 2004. It is a program designed to help create and break simple ciphers, so it is aimed more towards fellow cryptology students and cryptoquip/puzzle enthusiasts than towards those interested in high-security encryption (most can be created and solved by hand, although that can take a very long time for cipher methods such as Vigenère). These are definitely not secure methods for encryption, but they are fun to create and break. I started working on this project in January of 2004. It is a fun and interesting project, and I definitely welcome any ideas or suggestions on how to improve it.

In future versions, I hope to add more ciphers, possibly including some public key cryptology such as RSA or Blowfish. I also hope to add tools to help solve transposition ciphers, more options to customize the program, a completed help file, sorting of data, 'cipher guessing wizard', and much more.

This program is a work-in-progress, so many menus and options aren't available yet. And of course nothing is guaranteed to work ^^. I hope some people will find it helpful, and I'll try to frequently update it as I have time to do so. Here is the list of features so far:

• Affine Ciphers: seems buggy so I wouldn't recommend using it yet. Can encipher messages, but sometimes doesn't decipher correctly. Can brute force a message searching for all possible combinations of a specified word (such as 'the').
• Caesar Ciphers: can encipher, decipher, and also brute force any Caesar ciphered message. Can choose any shift value for the message.
• Hill Ciphers: can encipher any message using up to a 10x10 square matrix key. Only verifies correct values for a 2x2 square matrix key, so larger keys won't verify the data inputted. Can not decipher messages yet.
• Rail Fence Ciphers: can encipher and decipher any Rail Fence ciphers up to a size of 32,768 rails. Can brute force a range of rail fences, and also 'draws' the rail fence.
• Vigenère Ciphers: can encipher and decipher any message. Can strip the alphabets of a message so the can be analyzed individually. Shows a standard Vigenère square.
• Tools: calculates letter frequencies, digraphs, trigraphs, xgraphs, message length, Friedman value, Friedman keyword length, and much more.
