A WebQuest is a guided exploration of pre-selected Internet sites and a
task/assignment which requires higher-level thinking skills. WebQuests are
usually designed for small group cooperative learning and last more than three
class periods.

Groups of students work to plan a vacation costing no more than $2000.
After creating a table comparing the costs of various destinations, they
also complete a spreadsheet showing anticipated individual expenses and
research the history of their selected vacation spot.

During this WebQuest, students complete three tasks: research and
retell the process for acquiring a graduated driver's license; select a car
and chart the expenses on a spreadsheet; and create a Power Point
presentation outlining a time-management plan after becoming a car owner and
licensed driver.

WebQuest on Triangles
A team of three students explores triangles using prior knowledge and a
digital camera. They then choose a triangle research project to add
the the knowledge of the group. Uses KWL strategy and self-evaluation.

Construction
Students work individually to research one type of bridge and then select a
design justified by the individual presentations. Finally, the group
is required to build an actual bridge that can withstand a weight test.

Greatest Team of All Time?
Students work in groups of 5 as ESPN sports reporters to select the 15
greatest collegiate basketball players of all time. After analyzing
the statistics, they arrange the players into 3 teams and graph the records
for each team. Finally, they write a script for a 5--minute pitch to
be presented by all group members during half time at the Collegiate
National Championship Game.
