Becoming a member of GSE is by invitation. Once a year (normally in January) the chemistry department faculty nominate students that meet the following requirements: 1) Chemistry/biochemistry major, 2) Have > 3.0 GPA in general and organic chemistry, 3) Have > 3.0 GPA both overall and in their chemistry courses. Once nominated, new members are inducted at the annual chemistry celebration banquet, normally held in April. NKU GSE members must pay annual dues of $15, as well as a one-time induction fee set by the national board. Once a member, you must maintain the three criteria above. For more details, refer to the NKU GSE Bylaws and contact us if you have any questions.

ACS NATIONAL AFFILIATE MEMBERSHIP
Although not required for general membership in SAACS, student affiliate membership in the American Chemical Society allows you to take full advantage of what the national society has to offer. Student affiliate membership is also required should you want to hold an office in the NKU chapter of SAACS.
Becoming a student affiliate in ACS places you in good company among some of the greatest scientists in the country. 163,000 members across 22 technical divisions join you in furthering scientific frontiers through chemical education and research. Student affiliate membership entitles you to receive the ACS weekly magazine Chemical and Engineering News, the student affiliate magazine in Chemistry, significant registration discounts at ACS regional meetings, access to ACS career and employment services, and student discounts to ACS journals and publications.
Several different options are available for ACS student affiliate membership:
OPTION #1 - Budget Conscious Membership does not include any issues of Chemical and Engineering News (the ACS weekly news magazine), but other ACS journals can be added at an additional cost.
OPTION #2 - Best Value Membership includes 35 issues (10/1/05-9/30/06) of Chemical and Engineering News.
You can become a student affiliate online or by picking up an application during a SAACS meeting.
